Pass It On! Scholars Award

Harmony Project (2025)

Our Pass It On! Award typically is awarded to a student most likely, throughout their lifetime, to continue celebrating the positive power of music in the lives of children and to recognize the importance of networking and sharing knowledge, music, ideas, and songs. This year, CMN has selected a Pass It On Award recipient that accomplishes this mission in many children’s lives: Harmony Project.

Harmony Project is a nonprofit organization that provides high-quality music instruction and social support to children year-round at no cost through community hubs in Los Angeles. As one of Los Angeles' largest music education organizations, Harmony Project is dedicated exclusively to serving children from low-income families and under-resourced communities. Harmony Project envisions a world in which all students have equal access to opportunities to learn how to play music and the resources needed to thrive in college and beyond. Harmony Project's holistic approach to student success has resulted in impressive outcomes with 98 percent of the graduating high school class accepted to a college or university during the 2024-2024 academic year.

In 2025, over 286 Harmony Project families were affected by the Altadena Fire. Harmony Project has continued to provide needed programming and meaningful support for this community as it rebuilds.

As CMN planned its 2025 conference in Los Angeles, we thought it fitting to honor an organization in this city whose mission so closely aligns with our own. We are proud to award Harmony Project the 2025 Pass It On Award in acknowledgement of their dedication to providing music instruction, social and emotional support, and college preparation services. They are truly making an impact by sharing the positive power of music with children across Los Angeles every day.
